A RadioShack Closed And Employees Went To The Store Location's Facebook Page To Shit Talk Everyone
Uproxx – Between online shopping and big box stores, RadioShack is sadly one of those companies that hasn’t managed to adapt to the ever changing retail landscape. The electronics chain filed for bankruptcy for the second time back in March, after filing for Chapter 11 protection back in February of 2015 following 11 consecutive quarterly losses. It’s only a matter of time before we live in a ‘Shack-less world, now.
Shortly after filing for bankruptcy, RadioShack also announced the closure of over 500 stores, 36 percent of the chain’s total, including a location in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. This in itself would not be newsworthy, except that a Facebook page claiming to be the account for the Reynoldsburg RadioShack went totally bananas this week, lashing out at customers as the store prepared to close its doors for the final time.
And Radioshack’s main page posted this status today after it started to go viral:
Apparently the page only opened after Radioshack announced the store closings so this doesn’t seem like some brilliant viral marketing to get Radioshack back in the limelight for their inability to build a business around batteries, off-brand chargers, and remote control cars. But what it does seem like is a pretty brilliant little final fuck you from some minimum wage workers in Ohio as their incompetent employer takes its final bow. I mean put yourself in their shoes, how cathartic must these replies to people have been?
Yeah it doesn’t save their jobs and maybe it’s an immature way to go out for a company who paid you for however many years…but fuck it man. This is the American dream, one final F-U on the way out. And when your employer is Radioshack, the jokes pretty much write themselves:
Shocking that mocking how irrelevant to modern times your company is didn’t turn them out of their tailspin. At least they get how to post memes on Facebook now, that’ll definitely save face. #teamradioshackreynoldsburg
